On Tuesday 26th March, some Grade 6 students and a couple of Grade 5’s participated in a soccer tournament.
O.P.S entered 3 teams in the 5 a side comp and all students performed very well and represented our school perfectly in regards to their behaviour and sportsmanship.
Our boys and girls teams recorded mixed results and finished 8th of 16. Our mixed team only lost the one match and finished 3rd overall.
A fun day was had by all, check out some of the action below.
On Tuesday, the students of 6K took part in a first aid session, as part of our Health, Safety and Drug Education program. During the session the kids learned about and practised responding to and assessing emergency situations, attending to an unresponsive patient and performing CPR.
They also received information on treating poisonous bites and stings and practised immobilising limbs and bandaging wounds.
Below are some photos of the session.
Night walk. Very easy walk through Lilly Pilly Gully. Most kids did very well staying quiet and spotting wildlife. Not much to see, but still a nice walk anyway.
Only a few kids were moving around. Most had a sleep in. Time for a shower and free time before breakfast.
Breakfast was cereal, eggs and baked beans. A good meal for our final hike this morning.
Hike to Squeaky Beach. 6km round trip, with beautiful views. Wasn’t a very hard walk, but I think that most of us found it tough going as the nice breeze has deserted us, making it much hotter than the previous 3 days. While at Squeaky the kids enjoyed the unique squeakiness of the sand and we had some sand wrestling (sumo style), which was very funny to watch.
Lunch was ham and salad sandwiches with fruit and then we organised the first group to go to the general store for Prom souvenirs and snacks. Everyone will get a go at this before we head off tomorrow.
Beach for the final time. The kids seem to absolutely love this activity and the weather has allowed us to take them down every day. The swimmers returned after representing our school admirably. Well done guys we are very proud of you. All the usual fun was had along with a new activity of bombing into the 2.5m hole in the river we found. Most lined up for this like it was a water slide. Great fun!
Back to camp for showers, fruit and a rest. Time for some final preparations before our concert after dinner. We have had some late withdrawals, so we might have an earlier night than expected. Everyone is looking forward to some entertainment and a laugh.
Tomorrow consists of packing up and packing up. We should be home around 3pm, but please refer to updates from the skoolbag app for more accurate arrival times.
This is the last blog. Your kids can fill you in on the rest and much, much more tomorrow I am sure. Hope you have enjoyed reading and looking at photos. See you tomorrow.
Movie night was a hit. Headed to the cinemas around 8pm and the kids hit the candy bar pretty hard. Popcorn, spider cokes and choc tops were the favourite choices. ‘Life of Pi’ was well liked by most and a few will have to watch it again to catch the end.
Early start to get breakfast done before surfing. Cereal plus bacon and eggs pleased most.
Surfing! Group 1 surfed from 8 – 10 and group 2 10 – 12. I went down with group 2 and just about everyone stood up and absolutely everyone had fun trying to. All reports from group 1 were similar.
Mr Daly arrived! This brought a smile to everyone’s faces.
Lunch was hamburgers today. I am fairly sure that everyone was happy about that.
Beach time again. The weather is once again ideal and the kids just have the best time down there. Swimming, cricket and flag races were the main activities.
Back to camp for a shower and a big rest. Most kids are starting to look a little weary, while some are still using their free time to play cricket and run around.
Dinner. Looking forward to another good meal.
Tonight we have a night hike. Heading off at about 8:30pm and possibly an earlier night with everyone asleep by 10pm (edit: hope everyone asleep by 10pm)
Sorry for not having photos of surfing. Hard to take an iPhone in the ocean.
Woken by kookaburras having a good old laugh, I guess it was payback for keeping them awake last night.
Up and at em! Showers were had and tents were cleaned up (well that was what was supposed to happen). Most kids still look bright enough after a big day and late night.
Breakfast! Cereal, toast and eggs, then time to get ready for our walk. Weather is perfect again but cool enough to enjoy a big walk.
Hike to Little Oberon Bay, 8 km round trip with some of the most beautiful views I have seen. Kids were pretty worn out by the end of it, but still smiling.
Quick lunch. Deli meat and salad sandwiches, everyone ate until they were full.
Beach time! Same plan as yesterday, feels like it’s 30, so everyone was keen for a swim. Stayed down there for about 2hrs.
Time for showers and a rest.
Dinner is scheduled for 6 and our movie starts at 8:30. ‘Life of Pi’ runs for about 2hrs, so bed time looks like being around 11. My guess is some of us won’t see the end of the movie.
