MasterChef has been a much anticipated part of the Grade 6 year at OPS for the past 3 years and this year was no different. It was awesome to see the kids come to school today with so much excitement and enthusiasm. We are very lucky to have a fantastic kitchen facility at school to be able to do activities like MasterChef.
The challenge was a simple but tough one. Create two dishes in 60 minutes, one main, one dessert. They worked in teams of two or three and had to provide all ingredients and equipment to create two new dishes. A huge thank you to all the families of the 6K students for supporting this activity. It is wonderful, as a teacher, to be able to plan activities, like this, knowing I will have the support of OPS families.
The kids did such an amazing job. They are so creative and talented, tasting all the inventions was so much fun!

New Page!

The Grade 6K – OPS blog has a new page. The old ‘Outstanding Work’ page has been transformed into a ‘Kid’s Update’ page. You can expect unedited weekly updates from the students themselves, plus photos of the brilliant work being completed by the kids in class. Rhys and Rowan were in charge this week, do yourself a favour and check out their effort.

Grandparent’s Afternoon

Every year we invite students’ grandparents to come to school and have some fun in our classrooms. I, personally, love these days and enjoy meeting my students grandparents and I enjoy watching the kids interact with their grandparents. It is always lovely to see the ‘big grade 6 kids’ become little kids around their pops, pas, grannies and nans.

I would like to express a big thanks to my students, who were so well behaved and so welcoming to all our guests. I would also like to thank the grandparents who attended, I hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did.

Dad’s Day

Our annual Father’s Day breakfast was again a huge success. It was great to see so many dads, uncles, grandfathers and family friends at school in support of our school and our students. Nathan Thompson was the guest speaker this year and he was well received by all in attendance. Following Nathan’s speech, the dads joined us in our classroom to help the kids with a technology activity. This year we made model cars. Finally, everyone returned to gym for a breakfast of bacon and egg muffins and a chance to catch up.

Personally, I would like thank all the dads, uncles, grandfathers and family friends for coming along and helping make this morning an enjoyable one. Check out some pics from the day below.
